Duke of Edinburgh

For the hundreds of thousands of young people who take part each year, the benefits of achieving a DofE Award at any level are endless. DofE is about helping our students  along the path to a productive and prosperous future. Many of our students  say, it’s life-changing.You’ll also make a difference to other people’s lives and your community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends and have memories to last you a lifetime.

Participating in DofE gives you character traits like confidence and resilience, that can boost your mental health and wellbeing and help you face and overcome personal challenges.  It is also a fun time with friends , an opportunity to discover new interests and talents and a recognised mark of achievement respected by employers. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries whether it be developing resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication or drive.

Any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background or location. Post 16 students may have had the opportunity in their previous school to complete the Bronze Award and may now wish to progress to the higher levels. However, this is by no means a requirement and all students can begin their D of E journey with the Silver Award in Post 16. At Post 16 Doncaster we encourage students in Year 12 to participate in the Silver D of E Award and in Year 13, students have the opportunity to complete their Gold D of E Award. We have experienced D of E leaders and volunteers who meet with the students regularly, teaching and supporting them to organise their volunteering, physical and skills and camping/expedition training.

The opportunity to participate will be promoted through the Guidance programme and all you need to do  is attend the first meeting and get ready to have some fun!
